Inspired by my favorite novella In the Darkest Midnight by Grace Draven. This story speaks to me on such a deep level, and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye despite the number of times I've read it.

The endgame here is them realizing that they not only deserve a life for themselves, a life together, but also get the chance to fight for it.

For them to realize that they don't need to give up their lives to accomplish their goals, that they are not "dead ends", of fated to die.

As you could see just now, at this point, they're the furthest away from realizing it.

There is a long road ahead, and luckily, they get to walk it together instead of alone, as they were doing it for so long.

okay heres how Sol in the SOL au can still win. Darkness is one of my ocs that is mildly important to the actual story this world is from. the only thing you need to know about her is that her birth causes the sky to go completely dark for a bit as a replacement for the eclipse (theres no moon, so the eclipse is impossible). I know part of my rules for this au is that everyone with a night related name needs a new one but I really really like Midnight's name so shes a vampire that was born before the moon was stolen so her name made sense back then. shes a walking relic of what the world used to be like. She lives on one of Gulf of Gore's fangs because vampire and i still wanted her near the ocean. okay Sol time. everyone thinks hes extremely obnoxious for having the same name as the planet and hes just lying to everyone saying hes a prophet of the future. hes got mostly the same origin with skyclan and everything, i just needed to work out everything with the eclipse because that was the only thing that didnt fit.

i want a princess zelda thats a little silly. a little unhinged. plagued by visions. aware of the cycle and her role in this all (probably the most emotionally damaging realization you could have). a little erratic. but also very tender and she loves her friends very much. she doesnt like the cycle and she wants to go against it but she doesnt quite know how and neither does Link so these two kids are just completely stumped while they slowly crumble under the pressure and only have each other. how would this work???? i dont know. i am figuring that out :33333 because realizing you are literally ONLY alive to propagate and "fix" evil or whatever must be one of the most horrifying things you can realize as a person. i need a trio who dont represent their parts of the triforce very well and resent it because they wish they couldve at least been born blissfully ignorant
